Laura Spear's Home Page

Check out the brand new Warren G. Harding Class of 1979 reunion page.
Hi there! This is the home page for Laura Yuricek Spear. I was Vice President of Marketing at Trinagy but am now consulting for HP who purchased Trinagy last year. You can send me email. After working at Digital for several years (does anyone remember DECsim?) I earned my MBA from Boston University in 1989, finishing just one semester after getting married to my bike-a-holic husband, Chris.  Since then I have had two wonderful kids, Alexandra and Tyler, and have worked at Banyan, helped found Switchboard.com, paid my dues at the company formerly known as Xyplex, and just finished up with Progress Software.
[Note - this page was created by my husband who is an engineer who thinks he has a sense of humor.  That should explain just about everything.] Have a look at our new kitchen.

Hot Links
This is supposed to be links to people in my family.  So far that is limited to my slightly crazed cousin, Jenny Hart, who seems to have lost her mind somehere in the stacks on the Greenville Ohio Public Library.  Which, by the way, is where the fad of wearing boxers under shorts started.  Let's hear it for letting it all hang out!
Check out the home page of Emese Sarlo, our Au Pair from 8/99 to 8/00.
Here are some recent pix of Chris' family and our house. Lastly, look at the nerd page for my husband, Chris.

Okay, on to the good stuff!  First, the obligatory family pix.  Most of these were taken during our vacation on Cape Cod, MA during August, 1999
Tyler building robots at the Childern's Museum Tyler is the master builder - here he is assembling the parts to the Death Star.  Don't let the Rebels find out or it will be toast!  He is currently attends kindergarten when he is not watching Star Wars for the 43rd time. He can make all the battle noises of episodes 4,5, and 6.  After watching Phantom Menace four times, and wearing out a box of batteries with his Com-Tech Reader, has become pretty good at the lines such as, "I'm a person, and my name is Anakin."
Allie with a giant (fake) lobster Not to be outdone, Allie has captured dinner - looks like a 50 pounder.  Both these shots were taken at the Children's Museum in Dennis, MA - the best place to go on a rainy day while on vacation on Cape Cod.  Best of all - the Dunkin Donuts right next door!  Allie is in 4rd grade, and in her spare time takes flute lessons, plays soccer, does Junior Scouts, and reads Harry Potter books over and over.  That is, when she is not playing Pokemon continously.
Tyler looking in the water Tyler loves discovering new things at the beach.  Here he is looking in the water during a hike along the breakwater in Provincetown, MA.  Careful, little guy, some of those snails don't want to play.  Get the garlic butter ready!
Tyler with a crab shell "Look Dad, I found a crab shell!"  The brave explorer found a shell left by dive-bombing seagulls.
Allie and Tyler meet an alternative lifestyle And speaking of P-town, here is the "family values" shot of the kids, taken while attending the Carnival Parade. (Note the heavy emphasis on Carnal.) This was a great way to experience all the alternatives offered at the end of the Cape, wrapped up in a New Orleans theme!
Laura, Tyler, Allie on a whale watch boat What an enthusiastic crowd!  We are on the Ranger V, leaving P-town to look for whales (as if the previous shot was not excitement enough!).  Yup, that is the Pilgrim Monument.  At least it is not sticking out of my head!  All those camera classes and magazines must have rubbed off on Chris, who is hiding behind the camera.  As usual, the kids are saying, "Do we have to go?  We don't wanna!  We just want to stay at home and play Star Wars."  An hour later they were enthusiastically running back and forth, watching the breeching whales on every side of the ship.
Laura in the Provincelands dunes
Here I am relaxing at the dunes in the Provincelands.  We took a dune tour, and Chris again had to get a shot of that Monument!  He thinks I look like my dad in this shot.  Only if Dad would say, "Get that thing out of my face!" There is enough blue in the sky for a Dutchman's pants.
Allie, Dad, Tyler on the beach Okay, Chris snuck into one picture.  In Brewster, when the tide goes out, it goes waaaay out - about a mile!  Here we are, ready to explore new horizons, and show off our belly buttons.
Tyler, Allie, & Frog, Tamworth NH Here are the kids with their new amphibian friend, in Tamworth, NH at the home of our friends, Carole & Tom.  Ah, summertime - biking, swimming, and working on your tan!  The kids enjoy meeting new creatures, but always wear a helmet, just in case!
Laura being tickeled by Allie & Tyler
Last, but certainly the least, is the shot which used to be on this page - an ancient picture of me being attacked on the couch by a couple of rug rats.  Chris likes the photo....
